Slab Planters and Plates
Wet Work Dates: Tuesday July 15th, Wednesday July 16th, and Thursday July 17th, 6:30 - 9pm
Optional Underglaze/Glaze Dates: Tuesday July 22nd and Wednesday July 23rd, 6:30 - 9pm
Workshop Description: Create a slab planter and a plate with Erin Shafkind in this short course! We’ll be creating forms using rolled slabs. Using drape forms for plates and bases, students will learn basics in slab building that can be later used for dishware and sculpture. Adding coils with texture will be another component to add pizzazz to your pieces. Optional glaze dates the following week will include basic color concepts for creating patterns on your planter and plate with underglaze and glazes.
Previous experience with clay is not required. All materials and supplies will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring any handbuilding tools if they have them.
