Denali Selent

Denali was born and raised in Ohio, but has called Seattle home for the past two years. She took a ceramics class on a whim during college, and fell in love with the tactility and creative expression of the craft. Her work mostly focuses on earth-inspired functional ware—making pieces to adorn the cabinets and homes of her friends and family. She loves any opportunity to introduce others to the craft and has found great joy assisting and teaching at Yu Tang. 

Ceramics isn't the only time Denali is covered in mud—she also works in the farming and food justice world in Seattle. She finds a similar balance of abundance and peace sowing seeds and growing food with the land as she does with ceramics. And she especially enjoys the intersection of the two—cooking nourishing meals from the farm and serving them in plates and bowls she's made. 

When not making ceramics or farming, Denali enjoys wandering about, dabbling in various cozy hobbies, and spending time outside.
